It’s official! Two Rogue teams, bounders Suzie & Jake alongside their Bark Rangers, Skye & Ranger, are starting up year two of our wildlfe surveys in the hallowed @yosemitenps! We couldn’t be more excited!
💃🏽🕺🏽
Last year our teams & Park biologists trekked hundreds of kilometers, climbed up to hidden granite alpine lakes, and explored the Park to sleuth for clues (i.e. 💩) of cougar, fisher & the Sierra Nevada red fox, one of North America’s rarest mammals!
🦊🦁
Want to know what a day in the life of a detection team looks like in Yosemite? Watch this video ☝🏽👆🏿‼️ But why is Suzie dancing? 🤔 You can read Suzie’s blog about the surveys on @ruffwear’s page, link in bio (hint: it’s cold waking up at 10,000 feet, even in summer).
🏞️🥾
As with any of the projects that we’re fortunate to work on, there’s a lot of collaboration, planning & coordination. Thank you to ALL the amazing partners on this project, which include the super human NPS, researchers with the @oregonstate, and genetics from @ucdavis. The project is only possible because of the @yosemiteconservancy (which also happens to be one of our favorite feeds, sharing history, biology, & conservation news from the Park). Learn how you can support their important work by following them today.
